On today’s video post, Warrior Mind’s MMA Coach & NLP trainer Morgan Nunns talks about the power of acting in your MMA game.
Every time we walk into the cage, we take on the role of ‘fighter’. This is not who we are every day not even who we are in the majority of training, it is the role we need to play to win. As we are taking on and ‘acting’ out this role, it means we are ourselves in charge of the characteristics.
If you are designing the character you play, why not make it the ideal fighter? How good are your acting skills?
Welcome back to Warrior Mind and I hope you’re ready for your next tip for the psychology of mixed martial arts.
Today I talk about goals and focussing on your goal. Is focus all on the win or on the performance? What difference does it make?
The answer is a lot! Give yourself an outcome you are in full control of and you will perform much better, unhindered on the mental stress of being out of control.
The wrong kind of stress (dis-stress) will slow you down, burn you out and make you hesitate. It could cost you the fight.
Focus instead on an outcome you are in control of ie your own performance and you will give yourself an instant boost in confidence. That dis-stress now becomes excitement or eustress (positive stress). This will make you faster, energised and switched on.
